The 'Pocket the Problem' exhibition at City Hall is the culmination of a unique partnership project between Make your Mark, the campaign to give people in the UK the confidence, skills and ambition to be enterprising, and award winning entrepreneur Calypso Rose, involving 650 girls from schools across London.

The project was set up to enable girls to explore the concept of fashion with a social conscious, empower them to have ideas and make a difference and increase their creativity, confidence and enterprise skills. The 650 participating students, all aged 14-15, had just 3 short months to set up a Make Your Mark club, and come up with a unique design using the Clippykit bag concept to raise money and awareness about an issue of importance to them.

This provided the girls with a platform to share their ideas and raise money for a diverse range of causes which they cared passionately about including social exclusion, forced marriage, re-cycling and racism

The overall winning design by Haverstock School is a thought-provoking examination of gun crime in the community, for which the team have secured funding from the Metropolitan Police to reproduce the bag to use as a resource to other schools.

The resulting 'Pocket the Problem' exhibition is testament to the creativity and motivation of the young women that took in the project.
